Robert B. McCormick

Robert B. McCormick

March 28, 1986 ~ April 05, 2021

Robert B. McCormick, age 35, of Jupiter, FL and formerly of Fayetteville, NY, passed away on April 5, 2021 due to an accidental overdose after a courageous battle with addiction. Robert had been sober for over 18 months so this comes as a shock to both his family and friends. Rob had an extremely compassionate heart and an occasionally troubled mind. He had a passion for health, adventure, helping others, and having fun. Rob was kind, loving and considerate to everyone he met. His friends and family adored his fun-loving spirit and zest for life. He was unabashedly optimistic and funny. Rob was most recently the Director of Programs at the Dunbar Early Learning Center, where he created and managed school programs for under privileged children in Hobe Sound, FL. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, especially his family.

A loving and loyal son, brother, and father, Robert is survived by his son Jackson McCormick, his brothers Brendan McCormick and Spencer Bradshaw, his father John McCormick and mother Arlene Bradshaw.

A private memorial service will be held for Robert’s immediate family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Dunbar Early Learning Center, Hobe Sound, FL using the link below. Please sign the guest book at edgleycremationservices.com

Mr Rob,
You were a light to so many hearts❤️. You wanted to save, help, and protect everyone.
Whomever, will I talk to in the morning or watch you scare the others as you bang on the window as they walk by just to watch their reaction?
You know you were more than a boss and friend. I will forever miss your hugs and hear your voice. You will never be forgotten. “Love you too, Mr. Rob”.

I only met Rob briefly at Dunbar, but it was immediately clear what a gifted spirit he brought to the kids. Such a spirit is rare, and it is a huge tragedy when when the world loses such spirit. He will be missed deeply by those who truly knew him, but he will also be missed by all those whom he touched even briefly.

This is truly a heartbreaking loss. We were members of a certain Fellowship, and would meet when Rob visited Syracuse, NY. Rob doesn’t have to deal with that “troubled mind” any longer. He is at peace now, and at rest. We will always remember our time together. For those who survive him, we offer our heartfelt condolences.

We were neighbors of the Bradshaw/McCormick family when the boys were younger. Robert was always so very kind to my daughter, Jessica, a very special young gal with Down Syndrome. They became Facebook friends, and Jess enjoyed hearing from him from time to time.
He was a caring, kind young man. Our hearts go out to his family, especially to mom, Arlene. We are thinking of you all with love. David, Vicki, and Jessica (aka “Silly”..Robert’s nickname for her)

Lynne McCormick - Cousin

Robz,
It’s taken me months to build up the courage to come to this site. First of all: WOW! Look how much love is on here! As my Uncle John said above, “thank you” to all the love and prayers sent out, I felt them all the way over here in Cali. And thank you to all our classmates who reached out to me privately as well, it meant more than you will ever know.

Okay back to you Robz. I’m still struggling with coming to terms with the fact that I won’t be able to call you and sing Toto’s “Africa”, Warren G’s “Regulators”, or Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin” together ever again. We lost you just shy of my one year of sobriety. 6 months before you passed, I had ‘losing a family member’ as my only “reservation” in my sobriety. But the weird thing is, when I found out… I didn’t want to get loaded. I immediately went into being of service to my family (which shocked most of them). You may have been my lil cuz (but not by much as we were less than a year apart) but I respected your sobriety more than, unfortunately, I think you may have ever known. Our last Christmas together I was in the middle of a relapse… And there you were… Not drinking. You inspired me to get sober again. I thought ‘hey if he can do it, maybe I can!’ I wanted what you had! Today I am coming up on 18 months sober for the first time in over 2 decades, and have held down a Rehab job for a little over 6 months straight (again, a first in probably a decade) . I credit that to my Higher Power, but also to you; for showing me that someone who partied like we did (cuz we partied together) could get sober and go out and help make a difference in their community! As the only other member in our family in recovery I will infinitely miss you and being able to talk our fellowship language.
Thank you for loving me and everyone else you’ve touched in your 35 years on this planet.
Thank you for always having my back, protecting me, and being more like an older brother than a younger cousin.
Thank you for all the belly laughs.
Thank you for all the support in the beginning of my sobriety.
Thank you for being you.

I love you with all of my soul.
Spynner/Spynnerack… Lynne ♡
