Susan Cook Holt
April 19, 1945 ~ June 05, 2025
Susan Cook Holt passed away peacefully in Jupiter Medical Center on June 5, 2025. She was born April 19th, 1945, in Huntington, West Virginia, to her beloved “Mother and Daddy”, James and Elizabeth Cook.
Susan’s life was filled with accomplishment, adventure, and deep connections. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel and embrace many different cultures. Her professional journey took her from the bustling streets of Chicago to the vibrant energy of New York City, including a distinguished career with Northern Trust. These professional connections were a testament to her character and the profound impact she had on those around her.
She then met and married the love of her life, John Holt. They lived in The Palm Beaches, finally settling in Jonathan’s Landing in 1994. As a Realtor, her influence extended beyond her personal life, as she played an instrumental role in shaping the development’s real estate landscape. Susan forged lasting friendships with many of her clients. She was our favorite fashionista, and will be sorely missed by all her friends and neighbors in JL.
Susan was a woman of strong convictions, a staunch Republican who possessed a deep and abiding love for history and politics. Conversations with her were often lively and engaging, punctuated by her impressive knowledge and ability to effortlessly recall historical details. Indeed, she could regale anyone with fascinating facts!
When you spoke with Susan, it was evident she was a devout Christian, finding solace and strength in her faith. She was a generous supporter of St. Mark’s Church and Church of the Good Shepherd. She expressed profound gratitude to their clergy, past and present, for unwavering support and spiritual guidance during times of her prolonged illness. She also held her medical team in the highest regard, and attributed much of her health and happiness to those families.
Susan leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and a life well-lived. She is survived by her brother James Wallace Cook and wife Connie, their children Jay and Rita Cook and Mike and Amy Glass, five great nieces and nephews, and her beloved Dachshund, Freddie.
There will be a service at Church of the Good Shepherd in Tequesta, Florida on June 26, 2025 at 11am, reception to follow.
