Richard A. Spano, Sr.
February 22, 1949 ~ April 14, 2026
Richard A. Spano, Sr., known to friends as Rick, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at the age of 77.
Rick was a true warrior who faced a long battle with cancer with unwavering determination and grace. After years of fighting, his body could simply do no more.
Rick grew up outside of the Philadelphia area, where he attended Upper Darby High School, followed by Peirce College.
He spent over 25 years with Halstead International, serving as Vice President of Sales for their Metroflor Division. Rick was deeply dedicated to his work and played an integral role in driving significant growth in both revenue and profitability during his tenure.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Melody; his three children, Lisa Magee (Hugh), Richard Spano, Jr. (Jyll), and Jeffrey Spano; his ten cherished grandchildren; his sister, Marie Lieb; and his brothers, Louis Spano, Jr. (Carol), Robert Spano (Florence) and Thomas Spano (Becky); as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mona; his parents, Marie Wingert and Louis Spano, Sr.; and his youngest brother, Jamie.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply. While his career often demanded much of his time, his commitment to providing for and supporting his family never wavered.
Rick and Melody shared a love of travel, especially to Europe, where they were married in Florence, Italy, in 2004—a place that remained close to their hearts. He also loved being on the water, spending time on his boat, playing golf, and was an avid car enthusiast.
Rick will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, integrity, and his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
