Lorraine Johns Larew

Lorraine Johns Larew, age 77, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and formerly of Ocean View, DE and Hillsborough, NJ, passed away on September 1, 2026, in hospice care at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center following a courageous eight-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Lorrie retired after twenty-five years as an elementary school teacher in Warren Twp., New Jersey and she was honored by the State of New Jersey for “Excellence in Teaching” in 1999.  She was highly active in her church as a Sunday School teacher and was ordained as a Deacon.  From her love of history, she also began the Archive Committee to preserve the documents of the church’s pre-revolutionary past.

In retirement, Lorrie was an avid volunteer and community servant, both in Delaware and Florida.  She tutored children, delivered meals to those in need, and helped at a sea turtle sanctuary.  She loved art, enjoyed museums and discovered a natural talent for painting which she shared with friends and family.  Lorrie loved to travel with her husband and friends, enjoying national parks and Europe.  She loved golf, playing cards, gardening, dinner parties, history, reading, dogs, and most importantly friends.  She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Dylan and Brielle, teaching compassion, appreciation for nature, art and always to laugh.

A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother Lorrie is survived by her husband Bill of 53 years, her son Scott, his wife Kristy and daughters Avery and Reese, her son Matt, her son Ryan, his wife Katie and their children Dylan and Brielle.  She is predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Vera Johns and by her brother William Johns.

A celebration of Lorrie’s life will be held at the Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone, 1 Amwell Road, Hillsborough, NJ on Thursday, October 1^st at 12:00 PM.  A live video stream of the service will be available at https://www.facebook.com/HRCatMillstone or https://www.youtube.com/@HRCatMillstone.

Following the celebration service please join our family for a luncheon at The Stage House Tavern, 1719 Amwell Road, Somerset, NJ.
