Lance J. Smith

Lance J. Smith, age 75, of Okeechobee, FL and formerly of Jensen Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. He was born on July 6, 1950, in Mineola, New York.
He was an amazing man, charming, witty, friendly, honest and always available to lend a hand. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, beginning in 1969 in Poughkeepsie, New York to retiring in 2006 in Jensen Beach, FL. He enjoyed spending time outside doing various activities from riding motorcycles to boating, then spending his retirement traveling in an RV full time. He served on the Board of Directors of his community, Silver Palms RV Resort for 3 years. He lived there for 10 years making many friends and memories along the way. During his years of traveling in the RV, he visited 50 states by ground and 1 by air. While he was retired, he was still a full-time handyman for his children’s home projects. He created entire kitchens, renovated homes, building sheds and teaching them tricks to home ownership.
Lance is survived by his wife, Nancy of 53 years, 3 children Erik Smith of West Palm Beach FL, Kristin McPadden of Charlotte NC and Korinne Commander of Port St Lucie FL. He has 3 grandchildren, Jared Commander, Payton and Jordyn McPadden, and 2 grand dogs Dexter and Stogie. Also, his brother, Walter Smith of Virginia, brother Albert Smith of New York and sister Virginia Naugles of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Albert and Virginia Smith, and sister Gail Rampolla all from New York.

Lance was a well respected and valuable member of our Silver Palms family of friends. He will be missed as a leader, listener and friend. Our hearts are saddened.
