Normajean Wismer Leavitt
October 14, 1941 ~ January 29, 2026
Normajean Wismer Leavitt, age 84, of Wellington, FL and formerly of Port Huron, MI passed away on January 29, 2026 with her family by her side.
Normajean was born on October 14, 1941 to the late Donald and Laura Wismer. She was a 1959 graduate of Port Huron High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and then her Master’s degree from Wayne State University.
Normajean married Thomas D. Leavitt on December 26, 1964. She was a dedicated teacher for almost 40 years in Yale Public School District, and retired from her career in 2002 as a Title 1 Director. She enjoyed a long and active retirement; traveling, playing bridge, golf, tennis and pickleball. She was known for her fun-spirited personality, kind heart, infectious smile, and was loved by those who knew her. Normajean’s favorite past time was enjoying life at her lake house with family and great friends.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Normajean is survived by her three children, Melanie (Dave) Palmeri, Natalie (Rod) DiFranco, and Michael (Andrea) Leavitt as well as her dear grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Aaron Weiss, Sydney and Chloe DiFranco, Nora Jane Leavitt, and Brian (Irene) and Steven (Amanda) Palmeri, and three great-granddaughters, Raphaela, Noa and Mila Palmeri. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Tom, and her grandson, Joseph Leavitt. Normajean will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Huron, MI.
