Victor B. Buehler, Sr
November 10, 1928 ~ April 17, 2018
Victor B. Buehler, 89, originally from Utica, N.Y, a resident of Brandon, FL for 40 years and most recently of Jupiter, FL passed away on April 17, 2018 after a long illness. Victor was first and foremost a man of faith who loved his wife and family. His wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Ann, predeceased him in 2008. He was a devout Roman Catholic and was a charter member of the St. Francis of Assisi congregation in Seffner, FL where he served as a member of the Men’s Club, Usher and Eucharist Minister. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 in the Korean Theatre as a Tech Sergeant. He worked for both the State of New York and the State of Florida as a bridge carpenter in the D.O.T. for a good portion of his adult life. In retirement, he was a bit of a renaissance man, having turned to the arts in playing music and creating beautiful works of stained glass for his family and friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed movies, NPR, Garrison Keller, the YMCA and growing produce– truly a man of many talents. He never met a stranger, greeting new acquaintances as if he knew them for their entire life. He will be greatly missed by all. Vic, as he was known to his friends, had a large extended family. He was the son of second generation German immigrants. He met the love of his life, Ann Bateman, in 1949 on a blind date, and they were married in 1950. In 1957 he built, by hand, a house for his bride and growing family. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Janet Buehler (Robert Huang), April Abell (Keith), Victor Buehler Jr. (Carol Goodbred), Frank Buehler (Kristiane), Jane Buehler (Michael McIndoe), Gretchen Hines (Victor), and Beth Buehler (Christopher Ricker). His grandchildren included Matthew, Sarah (Deceased), Erica, Benjamin, Lacy, Ruth, Tressa, Christopher, Nicholas, Karl, Court, Adam and Megan. He had thirteen great grandchildren as well. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Smetana, of California. A service will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Jupiter, FL on Saturday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at the home of Beth Buehler and Chris Ricker in Jupiter, FL at 4 p.m. For directions, please email genefacts@comcast.net.
