Joseph Eugene Lukowich
January 02, 1944 ~ August 29, 2024
Joseph Eugene Lukowich, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on January 2, 1944, to the late Joseph and Rose Lukowich, Joe lived a life filled with adventure, dedication, and a deep love for his family and friends.
Joe earned his degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from New York City Community College. He served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. Professionally, Joe was the Director of Housing at Stevens Institute of Technology for nine years, a role he held with pride and distinction.
However, Joe grew tired of the hustle and bustle of city life and sought a quieter, more fulfilling existence in the Green Mountains of Vermont. There, he purchased and operated Luk’s General Store, where he continued to raise his family. His entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there; Joe went on to own several businesses, including Just Sports in Colchester and Waterbury, Four Season Sports in Lafayette, NJ, and May Farm Lodge in Waterbury, VT. He also earned his real estate license in both Vermont and Florida.
In his later years, Joe moved to Florida, where he spent his final years enjoying the warm weather, beautiful landscapes, and a more relaxed pace of life. He found joy in this chapter of his life, embracing the community and the outdoors with his characteristic enthusiasm.
Known for his larger-than-life presence—both physically and in personality—Joe had a voice that carried, especially during his many nights of karaoke. He was a man about town, always enjoying a good happy hour, not for the drinks, but for the company. Joe had a gift for conversation, engaging with anyone he met.
While he loved to sing, Joe’s true passion was the outdoors. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman, and his trips to Canada were a frequent topic of conversation, especially with his two best friends, John Lipari and Steve Sargent. Another of his greatest joys was watching his grandsons, Michael and Luke, play baseball; he was their biggest fan and took immense pride in their achievements on the field.
Joe is survived by his loving daughters, Lorraine Myers and Kimberly Lipari; his son-in-law, Michael Lipari; his cherished grandsons, Michael J. Lipari and Luke Lipari; his brother, Jeffery Lukowich; his former wife, Marie Petix Lukowich; and many nieces and nephews. Joe’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and a zest for life.
A service to honor Joe’s life will be held on October 1, 2024, at 10 AM at Saints Peter and Paul National Catholic Church, located at 126 River Drive, Passaic, NJ 07055.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s memory to Trustbridge at 5300 East Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.

May you Rest In Peace Joe. My family and I spent many happy days in Vermont with you my sister and the girls. Lots of laughs. Although I was not a hunter you always had some great hunting stories to tell. I can see you behind the counter of Luke General Store enjoying the customers. Hunt on Joe. You deserve it.

I am greatly sad about Joe’s passing as we were great friends and I did not know his health was so bad. We did a lot together and I consider him as a true friend of mine
And will always remember our time together. I feel for his two daughters during this time but they can be very proud that they had such a great father

My heart is aching. We were friends since our days working together at Stevens Inst. of Tech. in Hoboken. He also was a great friend to my then-boyfriend who was a late starting student since he had just returned from the Air Force. Joe was at our wedding and we kept in touch for all these years. He was always, always a gentleman as well as a gentle man. He and my late husband are now in Heaven together. I hope they party as we did in our younger days. He loved his girls and I pray they find comfort in happy memories of a great, great man. Love you, Joe……….. V.

so very sorry to hear Joe’s passing. We went to school together and Passaic, New Jersey and Joe was one of the most sweet and fun person in our class. He was funny, and always had a kind word. I remember at our high school reunion and he was just as adorable as I remembered him in high school. I had no idea Joe was sick, but I am so so sad to hear of his passing. my deepest condolences to Joe’s family… I know he will be missed…
