Cosmo Filiberto
September 17, 1950 ~ April 08, 2026
Cosmo Filiberto (loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend) passed away peacefully at age 75 on April 8, 2026 in West Palm Beach, Florida after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 17, 1950 to parents Josie and Dom in Oceanside, New York, Cosmo was a true beach boy from the start. His love of the ocean ran deep and many of his best memories were made with the sun on his face and his toes in the sand.
Cosmo was a warm, wonderful man who loved to walk his cherished dog Louise around the neighborhood and was well known by many in his community. To know him truly was to love him as he treated everyone he met with genuine kindness, consideration, and respect. A self-proclaimed class clown, Cosmo made everyone from his elementary school classmates to his hospice nurses burst out laughing. His energy was sure to brighten any room he entered and warm the heart of any soul he touched. He was also an avid sports fan who loved the Jets, Mets, Rangers, and Knicks. Through good times and bad, Cosmo remained as loyal to his New York teams as he was to his family and friends. But there was no one he was a bigger fan of than his own children, and he made sure to cheer them on from the stands every chance he got.
A true family man, Cosmo is survived by his beloved wife Libby, his sons Richard and Max, his daughter Nikki, his sisters Annette and Joanne, and his nephew Evan. He also considered Lorena (the long-term partner of his daughter) to be a second daughter to him as well. Cosmo’s family will miss him tremendously and will hold a celebration of life to honor him in the summer of 2026 with dates soon to be determined. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who love him and through the joy and laughter he brought to so many throughout his lifetime.

Cosmo was such a big part of my life growing up as I’ve been best friends with Nikki since we were in middle school. I practically lived at their house for many years so I have tons of great memories with Cos – driving around in his car listening to Runaround Sue, going to the beach, hanging in the living room on weekend nights, and even him playing jokes on us when we were too “out of it” to realize what was going on. Cosmo was always the chill, trusted, safe person for us. We knew we could call him any time to come get us if we ever needed. When I think of Cosmo, I picture him laughing and smiling always. I’ll forever cherish the time I spent with him. We love you Cos!!!
