David A. Robertson
November 11, 1935 ~ April 10, 2025

David A. Robertson, 89, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, born November 11, 1935, formerly of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on April 10, 2025. David was a great athlete and loved all sports. As a young man in high school he played basketball, football (both quarterback and kicker), and baseball, in which he played shortstop and went on to play on scholarship at Western Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He later earned a Master’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University. David was a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, friend, and grandfather, aka “Poppy”. He touched many lives in his lifelong career as a Teacher and Coach, affectionately known as Coach Rob. He was not only an athlete but a true sports fanatic, watching multiple games at one time on TV, even before the remote was invented! He’d just go from room to room to watch all 3 TV’s tuned to the best games! He continued playing sports well into his 80’s. Golf was a favorite, but mostly he played softball, his teams winning multiple Softball World Series. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but especially his family.
David is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Seats (Carmen), sons Tony Robertson and Terry (Jane) Robertson, daughters Tamara Robertson and Mary (Ron) Griffith, grandchildren Troy, Tiffany, Kyle (Giovanna), Casey, Carly, Colin, David, Melissa, Jessica, and great-grandchildren Bella, Karson, and Winnie. He has now entered Heaven’s gate, joining his beautiful wife, Sandra Robertson, his precious daughter, Sondra Elizabeth, and his beloved brother, Don Robertson, with whom he lived for the last few years. Both David and Don were tremendously blessed by the wonderful Music Therapy Program with Trustbridge Hospice Foundation. https://trustbridge.com/clinical-services/music-therapy/.

Love this remembrance and thinking about times spent on the patio, around a table, or lying on the small white couch watching TV with Uncle Dave. The best were the Olympics. The worst was WWF. But all were fun with Uncle Dave & his brother, my Dad. –Karen.

Coach Rob was my baseball coach at Suncoast high School 75 and 76. We then in later years sponsored his softball team at Abbey Road Grill and they won multiple World Series championships.

Chocolate wine in hand, is how I will remember Dave. Although I met Dave so many years ago, it was always a treat to meet up and check on what happened since we last spoke. He was so animated whenever he brought up any events with the kids’ ball games; and, he loved regaling me with stories from what just recently happened. Such a joy to watch him light up whenever a ball game was mentioned, I will miss his calls to ask if it was already time to review his insurance, again. He was more intuitive about what he wanted from his doctors, and plans than most people I know. He loved being surrounded by his family; and, it was so evident that they too, enjoyed his company. Such an absolute joy to witness the camaraderie between them. He will be greatly missed.
