Dolores Irene Birch
July 08, 1940 ~ December 07, 2024
Dolores Irene (Bedford) Birch, age 84, of Frenchtown, NJ, passed away on December 7, 2024 surrounded by family. Dolores, “Dee” or “DeeDee”, was born on July 8,1940 to George and Mae (Deremer) Bedford in Kingston, PA. She grew up in Pennsylvania and New Jersey along with her four older siblings. DeeDee graduated from Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, PA in 1958. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school. In 1956, Dee met Joe Birch at a Car Club party. They were married on June 4, 1960. Joe and Dee had 5 children and a wonderful life together, married for 62 years. Joe and Dee are now together forever, a match made in heaven. Dee was a wonderful, resourceful mother who cooked amazing meals from whatever was on hand and made delightful clothes for her children. She taught her children to cook, sew and to love Jesus. When Dee wasn’t taking good care of her family, she spent her time in medical related positions at the Frenchtown Pharmacy and the Hunterdon Medical Center. Dee was a devout Christian, singing in the choir and serving as the Worship Leader at church. She loved to dance no matter what the tempo. She was an avid bowler, celebrating a 300 game. Dee was a talented, self-taught artist. There was rarely a time when Dee didn’t have a ‘house guest’ who needed someplace to stay. She took in and cared for many over the years. Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Birch, her parents George and Mae Bedford, her sister Geraldine Landis and brothers George, Daniel and William. She is survived by her 5 children, Veronica Birch, Wendy Hewitt and husband Brent, Mary Birch and fiancé Javier Martinez, Joseph Birch Jr and fiancé Gaye Singley and Bridget Magee and husband Kieran, her 7 grandchildren, Coral Martinsen and husband Louis, Hillary, Colton, Makenna and Kielee Hewitt, and Aidan and Brynn Magee, her 5 great grandchildren, Louis, Stella and Thomas Martinsen and Nova and Lyrah Spero. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 4, 2025 at the Old Rock Church, 260 Mt. Airy Harbourton Road in Lambertville, NJ at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow. All are welcome to join us! She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Frenchtown Cemetery in the town they loved, overlooking the river they enjoyed together throughout their lives. Dee was a very dear and very loved friend! Always an encouragement leaning on our Lord Jesus to lead her, to give her wisdom and strength. She was a wonderful singer and often correct me for being off key! Hahaha. I will dearly miss Dee but am very happy she is reunited with the love of her life! Oh what a reunion we will all have one day. My deepest condolences and love to the family and friends.
