Edward Leon Desjarlais
January 07, 1934 ~ September 22, 2024
Edward Leon Desjarlais, fondly known as the “Big E,” beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on September 22, 2024 at the age of 90. Born on January 7, 1934, in Greenville, Rhode Island, Edward lived a life rich in love, laughter, and happiness. Edward was known for his big heart, endless jokes, and legendary anecdotes. He dedicated his life to his family, putting down roots in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, where he lived within walking or driving distance from all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A passionate storyteller, he captivated everyone with tales of his childhood in Rhode Island, working on aircrafts for Sikorsky Helicopters, playing softball in the over 50’s league, and serving our country as a member of the United States Air Force. Edward considered himself a fisherman, although boat drinks were often to blame for his lack of fishing skills. His humor, wisdom, and knack of fortune-telling will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Edward leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Kathi, Michael, Brian, and Robert, as well as his eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Each will cherish his memory and honor his legacy. He is survived by his sister, Judy Tella of Greenville, Rhode Island. Edward was predeceased by his brothers: Arthur, Norman, and Theodore; and his sister, Evelyn Bishop; his grandson, Daniel Straley; as well as his wife, Verna Desjarlais, with whom his ashes will be buried. A celebration of Edward’s life will be held from 1PM to 4PM on November 30th at La Bamba in North Palm Beach. Friends and family are invited to share memories and stories in his honor. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to St. Judes Children Hospital on his behalf. Edward Leon Desjarlais will be remembered for his unwavering love, his infectious laughter, and the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

What can be said about Edward Desjarlais? This man was so full of life that I hoped to be like that at that age. He and his wife, whom I called “Nina”, were the best grandparents a boy could ask for! I think I can say this for everybody that I wish that I could go back in time and relive those memories. I love you Poppi and I can only hope that I still remember you when it’s my time. ❤️

When I first met Mike and Brian on the 217 Clarke Ave project in Palm Beach there was an instant affinity The two brothers reminded me a lot of the family company connection I left in Michigan. When I met the Big E walking the job one day the connection grew stronger and it was obvious where their life skills from. Great guy who will be missed by all who knew him and the unfortunate that never had the chance
