Evelyn Lois Parker

Evelyn Lois Parker, of Lake Park, FL died July 18, 2021, peacefully at home. She was hoping for one more good year but didn’t quite make it.

Evie was born in Plymouth, MI to Sophie (Scheltema) and Ralph Rittenhouse. She was a proud switchboard operator at Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI, married and divorced thrice to Gerald McDonald, Russell Vaughan, and Elijah Parker, outliving them all. She was predeceased by her sons Scott Vaughan (1986) and Jeff Vaughan (2017), and her best friend of 72 years, Janet Carty in 2012. Mom was a classy, smart, strong woman, who was not afraid to voice her opinion, and her honesty and forthrightness sometimes surprised others. She always treated people with respect and kindness, creating and seeking a little adventurous fun along the way. She had a variety of friends and her church family was important to her. Frequent reminders from Mom included “use your nice things” and “spend your money”.  Mom is survived by her daughter Jill Vaughan, and her wife Deb Breedlove, and she will be remembered in their hearts forever. Mom’s ashes will be interred with Scotty in Plymouth, Michigan after a road trip with her girls.
