John J. Cicerone
April 20, 1949 ~ April 29, 2026
John J. Cicerone, known as Jack to most and Pops to his grandsons, passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 77, with his daughter Kristin by his side. Born on April 20, 1949, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Anthony and Jennie Cicerone and the second of four brothers. He grew up in the Upham’s Corner neighborhood of Dorchester alongside his brothers Anthony, Bill, and Tom, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. Jack attended St. Kevin’s Elementary School and Christopher Columbus High School.
After high school, Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and later studied aviation maintenance at East Coast Aero Tech. He went on to work as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney, where he helped develop engines for the SR-71 Blackbird, a legendary high-speed spy plane. Jack eventually traded Massachusetts for Florida, where he enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine and made his home in West Palm Beach.
Jack was a devoted father to his daughter, Kristin, and a loving father-in-law to John. He was a proud Pops to his grandsons, Nicholas and Tyler. Pops often said he hoped one of the boys would be left-handed so he could pass down his favorite baseball glove. He was also a loving brother-in-law to Maxine and Holly; Uncle Jack to Tony and his wife Danielle, Hannah, and Louis and his wife Courtney; and a great-uncle to all their children.
A lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, Jack was rarely seen without one of his signature scally caps. He loved being with his family. In his final weeks, he shared many laughs with Kristin, especially over their joint lack of Jeopardy! knowledge. Together they enjoyed their trips to Carmela’s for coffee, cheesecake for dessert, and just being with each other. He was always a good sport about joining family trips to Disney and Universal, even if he would have preferred relaxing by the pool.
Jack had a great sense of humor and a way about him that was completely his own. If there was a gadget that could make life easier, he had it. He enjoyed golf, dark chocolate, and finding a favorite bread pudding in Florida to share with his daughter. There are so many funny memories, but one favorite is what his grandsons call “Pop’s Corner” in East Milton Square. It is the spot where he once had a mishap while borrowing their mom’s car and somehow made it back to the driveway on a couple of flat tires, a story the family still laughs about.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Trillium Brewing Company in the Lower Mezzanine (100 Royall Street, Canton, MA). Family and friends are invited to gather, enjoy food and drinks, and celebrate Jack’s life together. In a setting he would have appreciated, the evening will be a time to share stories, laugh, reminisce, and raise a glass in his honor. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

To Jack’s family, I was sad to hear that Jack had passed recently. We were buds for a long time, even roommates for quite a while. I always enjoyed golf with Jack and his brothers when they’d come to join us West Palm.
I know he was crazy about his daughter Kristen and was so proud of her accomplishments.
