How do you honor a person who touched so many lives?
Jon fought a 2-year battle with cancer after surviving a cardiac transplant for almost 27 years for a rare congenital defect. Jon spent his entire life enjoying music, starting with playing trumpet, guitar, and piano. He was a beautiful singer, performing at church and chorale organizations. He became a full-time piano technician after his first career as a respiratory therapist. Jon never knew a stranger and helped all who crossed his path be it human or animal. He wanted to thank the Mayo Jacksonville Cardiac Transplant team for all their support.
Jon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sally. He is also survived by a few cousins and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Jon was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody; brother, Jim; sister, Nan; and sister, Pat.
Due to Covid-19, Jon requested no services be performed and that anyone who has not been vaccinated to please do so in honor of his memory.
In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be given in his name to Mayo Clinic Department of Development, 200 1st Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905 Attention: for Cardiac Transplant Research. The staff at Mayo were able to give Jon 26 years and 7 months of life after repairing his heart defect multiple times.
