Novel Brown, Jr.

July 13, 1937 ~ August 19, 2023

To everything, there is a season and a time in every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1.

A Time to be Born – Novel was born on July 13, 1937, in Millen, GA, to the late Novel Brown, Sr., and Daisy Brown.

A Time to Grow – He was a Burgess Landrum High School graduate in Millen, GA. He also attended Morgan State University as well as Palm Beach Junior College.

A Time to Rejoice – He was blessed with two Daughters and three Sons.

A Time to Commit – Novel was baptized at 18th Street Church of Christ on August 7, 1966. He placed in membership at Palm Beach Lakes Church of Christ in March 1983 and served faithfully until his death. He was a Deacon, Benevolent Co-Chair, and Mr. Fixit.

A Time to Serve –    Novel was honorably discharged after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Pratt & Whitney with 28 years of service. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Roosevelt Elementary School. He was a Mentor and Daddy B to Zachary Hicks, Zachary Washington, and Brian Campbell. He was also Daddy B to Cynthia Hicks Booker, Al and Rhonda Washington, Lisa and Michael Hannah, and Natasha Campbell-Flores.

A Time to Enjoy – Novel enjoyed traveling. He and Mary traveled throughout the United States and the Bahamas by car, train, and ship. He also enjoyed bowling, visiting loved ones and friends, fishing, and drinking coffee.

A Time to Die – On August 19, 2023, Novel slipped away quietly at St. Mary’s Hospital.

A Time to Mourn – He was preceded in death by his parents, three Sisters, and one Brother. Novel leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 40 years, Mary Brown. His two daughters, Novella Ray, Alison (Joe) Williams, three sons, Michael (LaTonya) Brown, Marc Brown, Ronald Brown, and their Mother, Ruthie James. Three Sisters, Mae Dukes, Gladys Sherrod, Lizzie (Willie) Johnson, a Brother, Samuel (Deborah) Brown, and two sisters-in-law, Lillian Cunningham and Virginia Smith.

His nine grandchildren, Marc Brown, Jr., Will L. Bens, Jr., Meagan Bens, Rasheeydah Herndon, Tavares Herndon, Nabilah Brown, Cole Williams, Aminah Brown, and Blaise Williams, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many friends.

A Time to be Blessed – His Christ-like approach to life was a blessing to all who knew him.
