Rhonda Wedel Gornto

Rhonda Wedel Gornto

July 19, 1955 ~ September 15, 2023

Rhonda Wedel Gornto passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15th, 2023, surrounded by her family. She has joined Our Lord and the angels in heaven. Rhonda was born on July 19th, 1955, in Hobbs, New Mexico. She is survived by her husband Quinton M. Gornto III, her children Stacey and Shawn Walker and her grandchildren, Sam, Savannah, Lily, Annabelle, Juno and Carrie. Rhonda was the rock of our family; our lives will be forever changed by her passing.  Rhonda was loving, funny, clever, smart and above all kind. Her love and dedication to her family was remarkable. Rhonda loved and adored her husband QM. He truly was the love of her life. They met in 1995 and spent 26 wonderful years married. They enjoyed taking car rides together on Sunday’s, exploring Florida, and watching TV shows together. Their favorite vacation destination was the Florida Keys where they made many wonderful memories. Rhonda was an amazing mother. She loved her children unconditionally. There is nothing like the bond of a mother and her children. We will struggle to go on, we have endless memories of the good times we spent together. She has been reunited with her youngest son Mackey and we are comforted by knowing they are both watching over us. Rhonda’s grandchildren meant the world to her, being a grandmother might possibly have been the greatest joy she’s ever known. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of her that they will cherish forever, she will be missed greatly by them all. She has been known to them as Mamma 2, Grandma, G-Ma and Florida Grandma. Rhonda had many friends. She was always surrounded by good people who loved, respected and supported her. Throughout the years she has grown unbreakable bonds that will never be broken. To those friends that loved her and cared for her, we say thank you. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at 11:00 am. It will be held at Horizon Baptist Church, 12965 Orange Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL, 33412. There will be light refreshments following the service at the church. We invite anyone who wishes to attend, to join us in celebrating her life. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Rhonda’s honor to A Kid Again Foundation at akidagain.org

Rest in Peace Rhonda. You will be missed more than you could ever know. Until we meet again!

Rhonda was my neighbor for 20 years. She was the funniest, kind and thoughtful person and welcomed me to the neighborhood. We shared many laughs especially with Jupiter and Stetson. QM is in my thoughts and prayers as he adored her. My sympathies to Mitch and the family and those grand babies who she just loved beyond bounds. Rest peacefully Rhonda, it truly was my pleasure to have known you! Thank you for the laughs.

Rest in peace dear Rhonda. The sadness of her sudden passing is a slow healing wound for all of us. Faith in God’s Grace will prevail.

Oh death where is thy sting?
Oh grave where is thy victory?
And victory is through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you Stacey for calling me to let me know about your mom. My heart is saddened by her passing. I’m so grateful Rhonda and I remained friends all these years; despite living so far apart. My happy memories of you my friend will continue to bring me joy into my elder years. Stacey and Sean, your mother loved you both so much and was so blessed you were part of her life. Y’all are what made her the BEST!

I’m thankful that Stacey called me to let me know, and I know Stacey was a great help and comfort to her mother.Rhonda and I became friends many years ago when we were young mothers. Our mothers were friends as well. We used to go to aerobics and then go to Denny’s and eat huge slices of Mrs.Butlers pies! How we laughed about so many things! We lost touch over the years, and amazingly Rhonda tracked me down so we renewed our relationship. She was a dear sweet friend. I love you, Rhonda.
