Vincent Andrew Mintus

Vincent Andrew Mintus

April 05, 1951 ~ January 01, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Andrew Mintus, a dedicated police officer, beloved husband, and cherished father, who left us on January 1, 2025, at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Kim Mintus, and son, Andrew (Anna) Mintus. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Blasko) Mintus, father, Andrew. S. Mintus, and brother, Mark Mintus. Vinny earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kent State University graduating in 1974. After graduating college, he moved to Miami, FL where he was an athletic director in Homestead. After two years, he entered the law enforcement profession with Miami Dade County Sheriff’s Department. In 1981, he joined the Delray Beach Police Department where he had served as a Road Patrol Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Undercover Narcotics Agent, and D.A.R.E. Officer. He was a Lead PBA Representative, responsible in negotiating labor contracts and obtaining many of the benefits the police officers still enjoy today. Vinny was a highly decorated police officer who retired after 20 years of service. He then became a Detective with the Palm Beach School District Police Department where he retired after 12 years of service to return to the Delray Beach Police Department in 2012, as a background investigator. Vinny dedicated over 40 years of his life to serving and protecting his community. His career in law enforcement was marked by countless acts of bravery and compassion, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the citizens he served. His commitment to justice and his strong sense of duty were a testament to his character. Vinny was an avid sports fan and former athlete. He enjoyed most all sports having been awarded medals in tennis during the Florida Law Enforcement Olympics, Boynton Beach Little League, coaching, and umpiring. Vinny was a loving husband and most enjoyed spending time with his wife Kim of 43 years, a Registered Nurse, and son, Andy who followed in his footsteps and became a K9 Officer with the Delray Police Department. The bond he and Andy shared, rooted in mutual respect and admiration for their vocation, was a source of great pride for Vinny to see his son carry on the family legacy of service. Vinny was a guiding light in the lives of those who knew him, exemplifying courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his duty. His life motto was “treat people the way you would like to be treated.” Vinny was not just a police officer; he was also a mentor, a friend, and a source of strength to many. He had an infectious smile and a kind word for everyone. Whether it was coaching youth sports, volunteering in the community, or simply lending an ear to those in need, he believed in the power of kindness and the importance of giving back. He has a host of family and friends who will remember him for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Vinny will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and, in the lives, he touched throughout his remarkable journey. Rest in peace, Vinny. Your legacy of service and love will forever inspire us.

In lieu of flowers, please gather with your friends and family to share a meal with the
ones you love the most.
